the⸺  setting

Ebonthorn Hall    borders the swampy lands of the South Shroud and the desert climate of Eastern Thanalan, skirting the edge of the Wood Wailer's patrols, where the influence of the Elementals is barely a lingering whisper. Hidden behind thorns and shadow, its presence is only known to those who seek it or to those for whom it seeks. Many mysteries await those curious enough to visit. If not within the walls themselves, the surrounding lands hold plenty for the brave to delve into and uncover the secrets contained within. Those that call the manor home do not keep exclusively to those lands. Many feel the call of adventure and opportunity elsewhere on the star and The Magister would be fool to ignore those possibilities.

the⸺  manor

The manor itself is well kept and fully staffed with individuals to meet all practical needs. A variety of adept scholars and mages make their home within its walls as well, utilizing the resources freely provided by The Magister. So long as a person provides some sort of use to the cause or home, they are welcome for as long as they'd like.Divided into Branches, each member selectswhere they feel they are best suited. If they are unable to decide for themselves, The Magister will assist them in their selection. Members are welcome to change their Branch only after their first Moon of employment, in order to make sure their decision is not a hasty one. No Branch is exclusionary and all are expected to work together for the greater good of the cause. The following Branches are available: Aetherical, Physical, Medicinal, Natural, Historical, Custodial, Innovation. No Branch is more important than the other and all hold equal weight. The Cause, is greater than any one individual and may change and shape over time as do many things, including time itself. Innovation, collection, recovery, and documentation of all things magical or unknown are the tenants by which Ebonthorn Hall operates. An individual's experience is only limited by their willpower and desire. By exploring avenues of intellect, greed, wonder, and curiosity, those dedicated to the cause will continue digging through the past and the scars it has left upon the star in order to further their understanding and aptitude.

the FOUNDER    of Ebonthorn Hall is Eonoix Vauremont, an Elezen with a grand aptitude for the magical and the mysterious. Adorning a Relic of his homeland, brandished anew with the influence of the Wildwood, Eonoix buries his legacy to the collective eyes of the world by blinding them with the subtle influence born to his people. Manipulation.
Silver clasps adorn his ears but the intellect and wisdom that brightens his eyes is far richer than that of the Shroud or Ishgard. His resources have found their turn to both the Scholasticate of Ishgard- fueling purpose for the Holy See and their ilk- all the same as he does towards the Elementals of the Shroud. Though spurned and turned away by the Conjurer’s Guild, whispered as maniacal and dangerous by the youthful practitioners, the Padjali themselves provide him a measure of space, maintained through a social chasm as Eonoix continues his own business of seeking greater and greater knowledge. The Pomanders of his youth and the cave works of Duskwight heritage inspired his art, but ignited a violent inferno of hunger when it comes to the concepts and inspirations that brought about the fall of Gelmorra and the specters of The Palace of the Dead.
So why not stir that purpose to bind others?

the⸺  magistra

the KEEPER    of Ebonthorn Hall is Ek'tun Clepsydra (formerly Kagon), a Xaela woman with bright ochre eyes that convey the volume of her many turns upon the star. Obsidian locks crown the head of the fierce woman, and while slight in stature her presence is felt long before and long after one departs a space she occupies. While the Magister's history speaks of the damp caverns of The Shroud, the Magistra brings with her tales of shimmering pale sands illuminated by the pure and graceful touch of Nhaama's light. With her face often shrouded, the hood she wears of fine silks and glimmering threads, she appears mysterious if not aloof. In conversation though, one will find her warm and wise, should she find the individual favorable. Her ire, when drawn out, is swift, her tongue sharper than any blade she may wield.A woman of sand and shadows, she helps balance the magic of Ebonthorn Hall, respected in near equal measure to the Magister himself.

the⸺  thorns

Of Mhach is a secret within the halls itself, something a very select few ever grow to learn about, let alone truly comprehend.Founded long Before, Ebonthorn Hall, the Thorns of Mhachwere created to answer the call of magic on the star post-calamity. Which calamity remains a secret whispered, though by name alone, that secret is unshrouded. While cowards ran to rebuild and form Belah'dia, the Thorns integrated. Became society. Preserved their longevity and their history.Known Only to each other, to become a Thorn is to shed the whims of mortality. To strive to uphold the will of something greater. To be satisfied with work performed in shadows, knowledge gained through subterfuge, morals set aside and patience gained. Once a Thorn, one is always a Thorn, until they are scraped from the stem and left rotting. If this path is sought, mercy will not greet you. However, the life you gain... what price is that worth?
